The Oscar Night

Já há algum tempo que não venho aqui partilhar algo novo convosco, entre visitas a Lisboa, Amsterdão e muito trabalho o tempo e, confesso, a vontade de me sentar e escrever aqui alguma coisa não têm sido muitas.

No entanto, não podia deixar passar a noite de Oscars em branco.

Para os mais desactualizados que ainda não ouviram no rádio, viram na televisão ou até leram num jornal ou numa revista aqui ficam os vencedores da noite:



 

It's been a while since I last came here to share something with you, between visits to Lisbon and Amsterdam and a lot of work, the time and, if I must be honest, the will to sit down and write here haven't been much lately.

However I couldn't let the Oscars go by unnoticed over here.

For those of you who are totally clueless about the Oscars, who haven't heard it on the radio, seen it on tv or even read it in a magazine or paper, here are last night's winners:



 

Melhor filme / Best Movie . Argo

Na minha opinião um prémio bem merecido, um filme com uma história verídica cativante e com um ritmo e tensão contagiante que nos deixa, ou pelo menos a mim, agarrada ao ecrã do início ao fim do filme. Deveria ter também ganho o Oscar de Melhor Realizador, ainda não consegui perceber porque não estava nomeado.

In my opinion a well deserved award, a movie with a captivating true story and that has a contagious and exhilarating rhythm that leaves us, or at least me, glued to the screen from beginning to end. It also should have won the Directing Oscar, I still don't understand why he wasn't nominated.

 

Melhor realizador / Directing . Ang Lee - The Life of Pi

Volto ao que disse anteriormente, para mim a escolha seria o Ben Affleck apesar de não estar nomeado, apesar de que não digo que não seja merecido.

Para mim é um filme um pouco parado demais, em que a acção desenrola muito lentamente mas com uma fotografia alucinante.

As I said before for me the obvious choice would have been Ben Affleck for Argo but since he wasn't nominated this was a good choice.

For me it's a slow paced movie, a little too much, the action evolves really slowly but the photography is stunning.

 

Melhor actor / Best actor . Daniel Day Lewis - Lincoln

Sem surpresas aqui. Acho que todos já adivinhavam este prémio.

Eu sou sincera, ainda não consegui ver o filme até ao fim. Já me disseram que é muito bom mas os primeiros 45min do filme desmotivaram-me por completo.

No surprises here. I think we were all expecting this award.

I have to be honest, I couldn't see the whole movie yet. I've been told it's pretty good but the first 45 minutes of it threw me off.

 

Melhor actriz / Best actress . Jennifer Lawrence - Silver Linings Playbook

Muito merecido! Jennifer Lawrence à segunda conseguiu passar de apenas nomeada a vencedora com este papel de alucinada que interpretou na perfeição. Uma interpretação sem dúvida muito bem conseguida e que a deixou bem à frente das restantes nomeadas.

A interpretação da Naomi Watts no filme "The Impossible" foi para mim a que chegou mais perto, com um papel muito comovente. Mas penso que o papel da Jennifer Lawrence era muito mais completo.

Really well awarded! Jennifer Lawrence makes it the second time, she went from just a nominee to winner with this role of a mentally disturbed girl that she played with perfection. An interpretation that set her apart from the rest of the nominees .

Naomi Watts interpretation for me was the one that got closer, with a very moving role. But I think Jennifer Lawrence's character was more complete and complex.

 

Melhor actor secundário / Best supporting actor . Christoph Waltz - Django

Mais um vencedor que não foi surpresa para ninguém. Quem viu o Django não tinha duvidas que este prémio já estava destinado a Christoph Waltz. Mais uma vez com um filme de Tarantino, Waltz leva mais um Oscar para casa.

Another winner that wasn't really a surprise to anyone. For those who saw Djando there was no doubt that this Oscar was destined for Christoph Waltz. Once again he takes a Oscar home for a Tarantino movie.

 

Melhor actriz secundária / Best supporting actress . Anne Hathaway em Les Misérables

Não consigo esquecer o solo "I dreamed a dream" que me deixou arrepiada. Um participação não muito longa mas sem dúvida marcante.

...

I still can't shake her solo "I dreamed a dream" that got me goosebumps out of my mind. A not very long participation but no doubt remarkable.

 

Melhor fotografia / Cinematography . The life of Pi

Escolha perfeita, como já disse acima.

...

Perfect choice as I said above.

 

Melhor guarda-roupa / Best Wardrobe . Anna Karenina

Não poderia ser para outro. O único que poderia fazer concorrência seria o "The Great Gatsby" se já tivesse estreado.

...

It couldn's be anyone else. The only one that could have beaten it would have been "The Great Gatsby" if it had already been out.

Mas como a noite de Oscares não é apenas feita de cinema deixo-vos aqui as que considero terem sido as vencedoras do Oscar "Melhor Vestida" da noite.

...

But since the Oscars night isn't all made of movies, I leave you here with the ones I consider to be the winners of "Best Dressed" Oscar.
