Spring Must-Haves

A Primavera chegou ontem, finalmente, e com ela chegou a altura de começar a tirar a roupa mais fresca para fora de novo, reutilizar algumas peças e pensar em novas para adquirir.
Por isso, decidi partilhar convosco algumas peças que eu considero essenciais para a Primavera deste ano.

Spring is finally here, and with it it's time to start taking our lighter clothes out again, re-utilize some pieces and thinking of acquiring some new ones.
Therefore, I decided to share with you some of the pieces I consider a must-have for this Spring.

"The Artist" and the return of the roaring 20's

Os "loucos anos 20" estão de volta, tanto na moda como no grande ecrã.
Ando nestes últimos tempos numa maratona para ver os filmes dos Oscares e nesta Segunda fui ver o "The Artist". Confesso que ia com um certo medo e uma certa dúvida se iria aguentar as quase 2horas de um filme a preto e branco e mudo, mas valeu a pena o risco, sem dúvida. Foi um filme que para mim passou por várias fases, a primeira vez que vi o trailer pensei "Um filme mudo??Estão a regredir completamente, nunca me vão apanhar numa sala de cinema a pagar para ir ver esse filme.", mas depois de ver o trailer mais algumas vezes a música e a expressividade começou a contagiar-me e eu já pensava melhor em ir vê-lo, até que lá fui eu e fiquei completamente rendida.
Um filme que não tem um momento parado ou aborrecido que emociona sem serem precisas palavras, que nos leva pela história de um homem, um famoso actor de filmes mudos, no final dos anos 20, que não se consegue adaptar ao filmes falados e a uma nova geração de talentos e que luta contra si próprio e os seus medos, enquanto uma jovem actriz chega ao topo da sua carreira. É um filme que põe uma pessoa bem disposta, tem momentos com piada, momentos tristes e tudo isto contando apenas com a expressividade de emoções dos actores. E que, tal como os desfiles de Primavera de Setembro passado, nos leva de volta ao glamour dos anos 20 com as suas cintas descaídas, lantejoulas, brilhos, penas, chapéus e bobs. 
Como já tem sido assunto recorrente aqui, o cinema e a moda andam muitas vezes unidos e esta vez não é excepção.
Tudo começou em Setembro com a apresentação das colecções de Primavera 2012 em que foi tema de várias colecções este retorno à década de 20, como no desfile de Ralph Lauren que nos trouxe de uma Daisy Buchanan reinventada com vestidos claramente inspirados no filme "The Great Gatsby", que irá estrear o remake com Leonardo Dicaprio e Carey Mulligan no final deste ano, os vestidos flapper pretos e dourados de inspiração Art Deco da Gucci, passando por BCBG, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs, entre muitos outros.
Agora chegam-nos ao cinema filmes como os já falados "The Artist" e "The Great Gatsby" e também "Hugo" que reforçam esta nova nova tendência e que nos deixam cada vez com mais vontade de entrar numa nova era de Charleston.

The roaring 20's are back, on fashion and on the big screens.
These last few weeks I've on a marathon to watch the Oscar movies and this Monday I went to see "The Artist". I must confess that I went a little scared and doubting my ability to endure the almost 2 hours of a black and white and non talkie movie, but it was so worth the risk. It was a movie, that for me, went through a lot of stages, the first time I saw the trailer I thought " A silent movie, no one talking?? What a a setback, they'll never going to get me on a movie theatre paying to see that movie.", then I saw the trailer a few more times and the music and expressions started to win me over and I was already thinking about going to see it, and at last I went and was totally surrendered.
A movie that has no dull moment  and that is thrilling without needing any words, that takes us through the story of a man, a famous silent movie actor, on the late 20's, that couldn't adapt to talking movies and the new generation of talents and that struggles with himself and his own fears, while a young new actress reaches the top of her career. It's a light hearted movie, with witty moments and sad moments and all this only counting with the expression of emotions of the actors. And that, as in the Spring runway shows of last September, take us back to the 20's glamour with dropped waists, beads, fringes, feathers, hats and bobs.
As has been a recurrent topic here, the movie industry and fashion are often united and this time is no exception.
It all began in September with the presentation of the new Spring 2012 collections where it was theme of several collections this comeback of the 20's, like on the Ralph Lauren runway show that brought us a modern day Daisy Buchanan with "The Great Gatsby" inspired dresses, which remake starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Carey Mulligan is being released by the end of this year, and the black and gold flapper dresses with Art Deco inspiration of Gucci, passing throught BCBG, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs among many others.
And now are coming to us movies like "The Artist", "The Great Gatsby" and "Hugo" that reinforce this new trend and make us wanting even more to enter a new Charleston era.

The new Spring Shades

A Primavera deste ano traz-nos dois grandes opostos do espectro, as cores néon e os tons pastéis. É nesta última tendência que me vou focar neste post.
Os tons pastéis têm uma longa história no mundo da moda que nos remete ao Rococó, no início do século XVIII, quem não se lembra do filme "Maria Antonieta" de Sofia Coppola, que ilustra esta época de forma brilhante, repleto de tons suaves desde o vestuário aos próprios cenários.
São tons que nos remetem a uma sensação de frescura, romantismo, doçura e delicadeza, mas que nestas colecções de Primavera também provam ser além de girly, sexy e arriscados. O color blocking está de volta mas desta vez numa versão mais suave, que é acolhido de braços abertos depois da invasão de cores fortes nas passareles nestas últimas temporadas.
Esta tendência já está a dominar as ruas e as lojas, por isso não percam tempo e comecem a preparar-se para a Primavera!

This Spring brings us two opposites of the spectrum, the neon colours and the pastel tones. This last trend is in what I'm going to focus on this post.
The pastel colours have a long history on the fashion world that take us back to the Rococo era, on the early 18th century, who doesn't remember the movie "Marie Antoinette" from Sofia Coppola, that ilustrates this time so brilliantly, filled with soft hues from the wardrobe to the sets.
These tones bring to mind a sense of freshness, romanticism, sweetness and delicacy, but in these Spring collections they also prove to be besides girly, also flirty and bold. The color blocking is back but this time in a softer version, which is welcomed with open arms after the bright colour invasion on the runway on the last few season.
This trend is already taking over the streets and stores, therefore don't waist any time and start getting ready for Spring!

Spring Inspiration with Asos

Cada vez mais as pessoas se sentem atraídas pelo shopping online, seja pela comodidade de estar sentada no seu sofá e encomendar as mais variadas peças sem sair do sítio mas também pela variedade que existe e a possibilidade de comprar uma peça diferente a um preço acessível sem correr (tanto) o risco de entrar num café e ter 5 pessoas com um vestido ou top igual.
Desde as lojas normais como a Zara e a Blanco, por exemplo, que têm também shopping online, à Topshop que, já que não temos em Portugal, pelo menos podemos sempre encomendar e receber as peças em casa, às lojas que são exclusivamente online, a quantidade existente é inacreditável, desde peças aos preços mais acessíveis às grandes marcas.
Apesar de não comprar muito online já que gosto demasiado de ir às lojas e ver a roupa ao vivo, experimentar, etc..., no fundo viver a experiência de comprar, ter a satisfação de sair de uma loja com os sacos na mão, se é que me entendem, um dos meus sites de shopping online preferidos é, sem dúvida, a Asos.
É daquelas lojas online que tem imensa variedade de peças, para vários gostos e vários budgets, do mais barato ao mais caro e que, pelo menos uma vez por semana, vou ver o que há de novo e acabo sempre por ficar com "água na boca" e vontade de abrir os cordões à bolsa e esse sentimento voltou mal vi o novo lookbook.
É um lookbook que abrange várias das tendências desta Primavera, desde o look desportivo ao total print, passando pelos tons pastéis e estampados digitais.

More and more people are now "attracted" by the online shopping movement, whether it is for the commodity of just sitting in the couch and order as many pieces of clothing as you wish without ever leaving it but also for the variety of things it offers and the possibility to buy something different at an accessible price without the risk (or with less risk) of entering a coffee shop or restaurant and having 5 people wearing the same dress or top.
From the so called normal stores like Zara and H&M, for example, that also have online shopping, to Topshop that we unfortunately don't have here in Portugal but at least with the online "store" we can order anything we want and receive it at home a few days later, to the exclusive online shopping, the amount of sites are unbelievable, from pieces with accessible prices to the bigger brands.
Although I don't buy that much online since I enjoy to much going to the stores and seeing the clothing live, and trie it on, etc..., basically living the shopping experience to the full, having that satisfaction of leaving a store with the bags on my hand, if you know what I mean, one of my favourite online shopping sites is, without a doubt, Asos.
It's one of those online stores that has a great variety of clothes, shoes and accessories to choose from, for many tastes and budgets, from the most cheap to the more expensive, and that, at least once a week, I'll go see what they have new and always end up with my mouth watering for something and that feeling came back as soon as I saw their new Spring lookbook.
It's a lookbook that travels through many of Spring's main trends, from the sporty look to total print, passing through pastel tones and digital prints.
