Inspired by...

Estes ultimos dias tenho estado entre Madrid e Algarve em trabalho, entre frio e chuva e sol e calor.

Claro que a minha preferência recai sobre os ultimos daí o meu post de hoje, repleto de imagens que me fazem lembrar as minhas 2 estações preferidas, Primavera Verão.

Um post rápido, aproveitando o dia de folga que amanhã (sim, Domingo) já estou de volta ao trabalho.

These last few days I've been between Madrid and Algarve, between cold and rain and sun and hot weather.

Of course my preference lays on the last 2 hence today's post, filled with images that remind me of mu two favourite seasons, Spring and Summer.

Just a quick post, taking advantage of my day off since tomorrow (yes, Sunday), I'm back to work.

WELCOME SPRING

A Primavera parece finalmente ter decidido aparecer e com ela chegou também uma extensa wishlist para preparar para o bom tempo que se começa a instalar.

Parece que finalmente vamos poder dizer adeus às grandes camisolas de malha, casacos de pêlo e cachecóis grossos e dar as boas vindas aos tecidos leves e sandálias.

Para começar esta Primavera tardia criei uma pequena lista de items que gostaria de acrescentar ao meu guarda roupa.

Adicionar peças em tons brancos ou claros, como uma saia midi e um crop top, uns calções estruturados e statement collars...

Spring seems like has finally decided to come and with it also came an extensive wishlist to get ready for the good weather that is beginning to settle.

Seems like we're finally going to be able to say goodbye to the fur jackets and chunky scarves and knits and welcome the light fabrics and sandals.

To start off this belate Spring I created a small list of items I wish I could add to my wardrobe .

Starting with pieces in whites and soft tones, like a midi skirt and a crop tops, structured shorts and statement necklaces...

Raf Simons volta a surpreender com uma fantástica colecção de Haute Couture para a Christian Dior.

O designer com esta colecção consegue transportar-nos de um Inverno gelado para uma arrebatadora Primavera com as suas peças construídas na perfeição.

Mais uma vez um desfile que parece saído de um conto de fadas.

Raf Simons continues to surprise with an amazing Haute Couture collection for Christian Dior.

With this collection Simons manages to transport us from a chilly Winter to a ravishing Spring with his perfectly constructed pieces.

Once again a runway show that seems taken out of a fairy tale.

Portugal Fashion Spring 2013

Acabou ontem o Portugal Fashion aqui pelo Porto por isso hoje nada melhor do que falar um pouco do que vi por lá.
Aproveitei para ir ver a nova colecção do Felipe Oliveira Baptista ao vivo na sexta-feira à noite, já tinha visto no style.com quando a apresentou em Paris.
Como é normal o desfile começou com quase uma hora de atraso mas valeu a pena a espera, apesar de não ter sido a minha colecção preferida dele
Felipe Oliveira Baptista, também director criativo da Lacoste, apresentou uma colecção que é caracterizada por um caos propositado, começando com peças mais estruturadas e de cores lisas que rapidamente dão lugar a peças mais desestruturadas, com bainhas assimétricas, cut-outs e uma mistura de cores e padrões.
Pessoalmente prefiro a primeira parte da colecção, mais minimalista e estruturada, que acho que também é mais o seu ponto forte.

Portugal Fashion ended yesterday, here in Porto, so for today's post, nothing better than to talk a little about what I saw over there.
I seized the opportunity to go see Felipe Oliveira Baptista's collection live on Friday night, since I had already seen it on style.com when he presented it in Paris.
As usual the show started with an hour delay but it was worth the wait, although this wasn't my favourite collection of his.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista, also Lacoste creative director, presented a collection which is characterized by an intentional chaos. It started of with one coloured, structured pieces that rapidly evolved to more de-structured pieces, with asymmetrical hemlines, cut-outs and a blend of colours and patterns.
Personally I prefer the first part of the collection, more minimalist and structured, which I think it's also his strenght.

Ontem, Sábado, fui ver as colecções dos novos criadores da ESAD, a minha antiga faculdade.
Devo dizer que fiquei surpreendida pela positiva, sem dúvida. Alunos finalistas com mini-colecções muito bem pensadas e concretizadas, num  nível já bastante avançado.
Das 5 mini colecções apresentadas, vou falar apenas das minhas 2 preferidas, da Ana Oliveira e da Catarina Ferreira.

Yesterday, Saturday, I went to see the new talents collections from ESAD, my former university.
I must say I was positively surprised. The finalist students presented well thought and well made mini collections, that showed a high level of professionalism.
From the 5 short collection presented, I'm only going to talk about my 2 favourites, the one from Ana Oliveira and the one from Catarina Ferreira.

A colecção da Ana Oliveira, intitulada de "Peau Blanche", é caracterizada por uma estética clean e minimalista.
Foi a primeira a ser apresentada e conseguiu prender o público presente desde o primeiro coordenado e serviu de excelente início para as seguintes colecções.
Com uma paleta de cores pálidas e neutras e cortes austeros e silhuetas limpas e depuradas, esta colecção é criada para uma mulher contemporânea, descontraída mas imponente.

Ana Oliveira's collection, called "Peau Blanche", is characterized by a clean and minimalist aesthetic.
It was the first collection to be presented and it was able to engage the public since the first look and it was an excellent start for the next collections.
With a neutral and pale colour palette and austere cuts and clean and pure silhouettes, this collection was created for a contemporary woman, relaxed yet powerful.

A Catarina Ferreira foi a última a apresentar a sua colecção, intitulada "Overlay", e fechou a série de desfiles da ESAD de uma forma brilhante.
Penso que vai ser um nome que ainda vai ser muito falado.
Aliando criatividade e uma excelente técnica, a Catarina apresentou peças de silhueta oversize com pormenores do vestuário masculino.
Com uma paleta de cores que vai dos tons neutros, preto e nude, a vários tons de azul, esta colecção apresenta uma perfeita combinação de materiais e um jogo de volumes e formas exageradas, o que cria uma imagem complexa e inesperada.

Catarina Ferreira was the last to present her collection, and she closed the ESAD runway shows series in a brilliant way.
I think she's going to be someone who we will hear about many times.
Allying creativity and an excellent technique, Catarina presented pieces with an oversize silhouette with details from the masculine wardrobe.
With a colour palette that goes from neutral colours, black and nude, to various blue tones, this collection presents a perfect combination of fabrics and a game of volumes and exaggerated shapes, all that creating a complex and unexpected image.

Raf Simons liberates Dior

A Paris Fashion Week continua a trazer-nos das melhores coleções e tendências para a próxima temporada de Primavera 2013.
Raf Simons foi mais um dos designers que apresentou um desfile de cortar a respiração na cidade parisiense.
No seu primeiro desfile de Ready to Wear para a Dior, Simons continua a distanciar-se e a libertar-se da Dior de Galliano. Enquanto este era exuberante e excessivo, Raf Simons prima pelo seu estilo mais minimalista e de uma exuberância e sensualidade mais subtil.
Eu, pessoalmente, identifico-me muito mais com este tipo de coleção e acho que esta mudança foi uma lufada de ar fresco na maison francesa.
Raf Simons inspira-se na herança de Christian Dior e traz de volta as silhuetas do New Look, tal como no seu desfile de Couture, e adapta-as às necessidades da mulher moderna.
Os casacos cintados e em linha A são uma das peças chave da coleção e vão ser, de certeza, um must-have para a próxima temporada.
A Dior, sob a direção de Simons entra numa fase em que as atenções se voltam a focar na roupa e não apenas no espectáculo que pode ser um desfile e isso é verdadeiramente refrescante.


Paris Fashion Week continues to treat us to some of the best collections and trends for the next Spring 2013 season.
Raf Simons was another designer that presented a breathtaking runway show in the Parisian city.
On his Ready to Wear debut show for Dior, Simons continues to detach and liberate himself from Galliano's Dior. While this one was exuberant and excessive, Raf Simons is known for his more minimalist style with touch of a subtle sensuality.
Personally, I identify much more with this type of collection and I think this change was a breath of fresh air to the French maison.
Raf Simons was inspired by Christian Dior's heritage and brings back the New Look silhouettes, like he did on the Couture show, and adapts them to the modern woman needs.
The hourglass and A-line jackets are one of the key pieces of the collection and will, certainly, be a must-have for the upcoming season.
Dior, under Raf Simon's direction is entering a fase where the primal focus is, once again, the clothes and not just the spectacle that a runway show can be and that is really refreshing.

A Couture Grunge at Dries Van Noten

A Paris Fashion Week já começou e com o pé direito, como se pode ver pelo fabuloso desfile de Dries Van Noten.
O designer belga conseguiu juntar, de forma brilhante, na sua colecção dois extremos opostos, a descontracção e espontaneidade do grunge e a atenção ao detalhe, os materiais e cortes do haute couture.
O grunge dos anos 90 tem servido de inspiração para várias colecções nesta estação de Primavera 2013, a estética de Kurt Cobain e Courtney Love tem sido reavivada e interpretada de forma a adaptar-se aos dias de hoje, mas ninguém o soube fazer tão bem até agora como Van Noten, na minha opinião.
Nesta colecção o designer faz o que sabe fazer melhor, unir a estética masculina e feminina e misturar cores, texturas e padrões.
O primeiro look a sair na passerele define na perfeição o que está por vir com uma camisa axadrezada transparente e uma saia em organza com flores incrustadas.
Os padrões axadrezados são utilizados em tecidos transparentes e delicados como a mousseline e a organza e é utilizado repetidamente num mesmo look, ou combinado com padrões florais.
O resultado final é uma colecção relaxada e confortável mas ao mesmo tempo sexy e feminina.


Paris Fashion Week has already started, and what a great start, as we can see on the fabulous Dries Van Noten runway show.
The Belgian designer has managed to put together two opposite extremes, the relaxed and spontaneous vibe of grunge and the attention to detail, the fabrics and cut of haute couture.
90's grunge has been the inspiration for many Spring 2013 collections, the Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love aesthetic has been revived and interpreted to adapt the modern day, but no one has managed to do that as well as Van Noten so far, in my opinion.
On this collection the designer does what he does best, bringing together masculine and feminine aesthetics and mixing colours, textures and prints.
The first look that steps on the runway sets the tone for the whole show, a plaid sheer work shirt paired with an organza skirt crusted with flowers.
The plaid prints are used in sheer and delicate fabrics like mousseline and organza and is repeated over and over on the same look or combined with floral patterns.
The final result is a relaxed and cosy but at the same time sexy and feminine collection.

A Milan Fashion Week termina hoje e dará lugar à última grande semana da moda desta temporada, a Paris Fashion Week.

Mas antes de voltar as atenções para a cidade francesa, duas grandes coleções de duas grandes marcas italianas, Alberta Ferretti e Fendi merecem ser destacadas.

Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti para esta coleção de Primavera 2013 parece ter-se inspirado num lago repleto de sereias encantadoras. Ver esta coleção é como mergulhar num lago refrescante e encontrar as mais belas criaturas do fundo do mar.

As cores, maioritariamente pastéis e a conjugação de materiais como a renda e a organza sobrepostas, o tule e as lantejoulas em peças femininas e delicadas tornaram os looks etéreos mas ao mesmo tempo fortes.

Alberta Ferretti for this Spring 2013 collection seems to have seek inspiration in a lake filled with the most enchanting mermaids. Watching this collection is like diving in a refreshing lake and finding the most beautiful creatures in the water.

The colours, mostly pastels and the fabrics combinations like organza over lace, tulle, and sequins put together with feminine and delicate pieces made the looks ethereal and strong at the same time.

Fendi

A coleção da Fendi para a Primavera 2013 é arrojada, bem estruturada e excêntrica, na minha opinião uma das melhores da casa nestas ultimas temporadas.

A paleta de cores é das mais refrescantes que se viu até agora nas diversas fashion weeks, assim como as suas combinações de tons pastéis e tons vibrantes, que fazem ansiar pela Primavera.

Os padrões geométricos dominam a coleção em silhuetas simples e clean, dando por vezes um efeito de ilusão de óptica e, até, de tridimensionalidade.

As malas e sapatos complementam na perfeição a coleção e vão fazer as delícias das mulheres na próxima Primavera.

The Spring 2013 Fendi collection is bold, well-structured and quirky, in my opinion one of their best these last few seasons.

The colour palette is one of the most refreshing that I’ve seen so far, as well as the colour combinations of pastel and vibrant tones that make us wish for Spring.

The geometric patterns dominated the collection in simple and clean silhouettes, conferring at times an optic illusion and, even, a 3-D effect.

The handbags and shoes were the perfect complement for this collection and will, certainly, be on women’s thoughts and dreams until the next Spring.

O blog está em pleno modo Fashion Weeks e se há algo que gosto nesta altura (além dos desfiles claro) é o streetstyle.
Há um certo fascínio em ver o que as "fashionistas" de todo o mundo resolvem vestir para assistir aos desfiles.
A mistura de estilos, de padrões, de cores e texturas, faz das ruas um verdadeiro festival de estilo.
Na London Fashion Week muitos foram os looks que fizeram as delícias dos fotógrafos e, agora com a terceira grande semana de moda, em Milão, já a meio estes continuam a surpreender.

The blog is in full Fashion Weeks mode, and if there's something that I like on this time of the year (besides the new collections, of course) it's the streetstyle.
There's a certain allure to seeing what the world's "fashionistas" decide to wear to watch the shows.
The variety of styles, the mixture of patterns, prints, colours and textures, makes the streets a true style festival.
On the London Fashion Week many were the looks who made the delights of the photographers and, now that we're in the middle of the third big fashion week, in Milan, they keep on surprising.

The Best of London Fashion Week

A London Fashion Week já deu lugar à Milan Fashion Week, mas antes de passar às coleções italianas, não podia deixar de fazer um pequeno review de duas das minhas coleções preferidas que passaram pela capital inglesa.

London Fashion Week has already given way to Milan Fashion Week, but before focusing on the Italian collections, I couldn’t help to make a little review of two of my favourite collections that have passed throught the British capital.

Mary Katrantzou

Ninguém domina dos estampados como Mary Katrantzou e esta coleção para a Primavera 2013 é mais uma prova disso mesmo.

A designer nascida em Atenas inspirou-se em selos e notas do mundo inteiro como a libra britânica, o kroner e drachma, e recriou-as nos estampados das suas peças, em tecidos brancos, brocados e mesmo em ganga.

Estes prints arrojados atingem o perfeito equilíbrio em peças de design simples, linhas A, vestidos-camiseiro e fatos de corte a direito, dando origem a uma coleção gráfica e lisonjeira.

No one can master prints like Mary Katrantzou and this Spring 2013 collection is another proof of that.

The Athens born designer was inspired by postage stamps and banknotes from all over the world like the British pound, the kroner and drachma, and recreated them into her clothes’ prints, in crisp white fabric, brocades and even denim.

These bold prints achieve a perfect balance with pieces with a simple design, A-lines, shirt dresses and straight cut suits, resulting in a graphic and flattering collection.

Christopher Kane

A coleção de Christopher Kane consegue enganar à primeira vista, quem diria ao ver os primeiros looks que a inspiração por trás da coleção seria o monstro de Frankenstein?

Parafusos de plástico mantêm unidos vestidos e saias ultra femininas e fita adesiva aparece em conjunto com bordados, renda e organza. A paleta de cor é maioritariamente branca com algum rosa pálido e amarelo ácido pelo meio.

Esta aparente sofisticada elegância esconde um segredo obscuro, e é esse contraste que faz a coleção de Christopher Kane tão especial.

Christopher Kane’s collection can deceive you ate first sight, who would have guesses by seeing the first looks off the runway that the inspiration behind the collection was Dr Frankenstein Monster?

Plastic nuts and bolts held together ultra feminine dresses and skirts and electrical tape was used with brocades, lace and organza. The colour palette is mainly white with some pale rose and acid yellow in the middle.

This apparent sophisticated elegance hides a dark secret, and that contrast is what makes Christopher Kane’s collection so special.

Topshop Unique, all grown-up!

 A London Fashion Week já vai a meio e muitos foram já as coleções apresentadas nestes últimos dias na capital inglesa.

Uma das que aguardava ansiosamente para ver era a coleção da Topshop Unique, uma das minhas marcas preferidas, para a Primavera de 2013 e esta, como sempre, não desiludiu.

Numa versão mais feminina e madura, a Topshop apresenta uma coleção moderna inspirada no minimalismo dos anos 90, com uma boa dose de sofisticação relaxada.

A paleta de cores centra-se nos tons neutros, branco e preto, com alguns apontamentos de amarelo canário e azul.

Tecidos transparentes como a organza e devouré são utilizados em vestidos e saias de forma a revelar subtilmente algumas partes do corpo. Destacam-se os casacos e coletes oversized que contribuem para a aparência descomplicada da coleção.

London Fashion Week is already in the middle and many were the collections that were already presented these last few days in the British capital.

One that I was anxiously awaiting was the Topshop Unique collection, one of my favourite brands, for the 2013 Spring and I wasn't disappointed, of course.

On a more feminine and grown-up version, Topshop presented a modern collection inspired on the 90’s minimalism, with just the right amount of sophisticated slouch.

The colour palette was mostly around the neutral tones, black and white, with a hint of canary yellow and blue.

Sheer fabrics like organza and devouré were used in dresses and skirts offering revealing hints of skin. Oversized jackets and vests stood out and contributed to the slouchy, easy and cool look of the collection.
