Capture the Colour

A Ana do Downtown Diaries nomeou-me para participar neste concurso, que termina hoje, chamado Capture the Colour.
Este concurso da Travel Supermarket consiste em:

Ana from Downtown Diaries has nominated me to take part in this competition, that ends today, called Capture the Colour.
In this competition by Travel Supermarket you have to:

. Publish a blog post with photos taken by you that capture the following 5 colours: Blue, Green, Yellow, White and Red.

. Nominate 5 fellow bloggers to take part in the contest.

  Vermelho . Encontrei este miúdo em Rhodes a pedir dinheiro com o seu acordião vermelho e simplesmente tocou-me o seu ar entristecido.
Red . I saw this kid in Rhodes asking money while playing on his red accordion and it just touched me, his saddened eyes.

Amarelo . Esta foto foi tirada em Barcelona, durante uma festa ao entardecer no terraço de minha casa. Quando olhei para o prédio ao lado e vi a alegria das crianças a dançarem ao som da nossa música debaixo duma luz amarelada do pôr do sol não resisti a captar o momento.

Yellow . This photo was taken in Barcelona, during a party on my apartment's rooftop. When I looked to the building next to us and I saw the joy of these kids dancing to our music under the yellow light of the sundown I couldn't resist capturing the moment.

Azul . Este céu azul sobre a famosa Mesquita Azul em Istambul não poderia ser mais apropriada para o começo de uma noite de Ramadão.
Blue . This blue sky over the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul couldn't be more perfect for the start of a Ramadan night.

Verde . Este verde para mim simboliza o tempo de paz que agora vivemos sob o memorial de uma época mais negra, à entrada do campo de concentração de Terezin, em Praga.

Green . This green to me symbolizes a time of peace that we now live beneath a memorial of darker times, by the entrance of Terezin concentration camp, in Prague.

Branco . Eu sei que pode ser cliché mas a frescura do branco da cidade de Mykonos inspira qualquer um.

White . I know it might seem a cliché but the freshness of the white in Mykonos I think inspires everyone.

Pirelli Calendar photographed by photojournalist Steve McCurry

O famoso calendário Pirelli, conhecido pelas suas fascinantes fotografias de nus artísticos, revelou o fotógrafo para a edição de 2013, uma grande surpresa, sem dúvida.

Normalmente fotografado pelos melhores fotógrafos de moda como Herb Ritts,  Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier e, o mais recente, Mario Sorrenti, o calendário do próximo ano muda um pouco de direção sob a objetiva do fotojornalista Steve McCurry.

Conhecido por captar a famosa imagem da National Geographic em 1985 da rapariga afegã de olhos verdes que impressionou o mundo inteiro, McCurry revela que pretende retratar uma mulher que é sexy sem estar nua, definitivamente uma visão diferente das anteriores.

Resta esperar para ver o resultado no final deste ano e quem terão sido as musas escolhidas pelo fotógrafo.

The famous Pirelli Calendar, known for its fascinating photos of artistic nudes, revealed the photographer for the 2013 edition, a big surprise, there's no doubt in that.

Usually photographed by the best fashion photographers like Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier and, the most recent, Mario Sorrenti, next year's calendar is headed in a new direction under the lens of photojournalist Steve McCurry.

Known for capturing the iconic National Geographic image in 1985, of the green eyed Afghan girl that impressed the whole world, McCurry says he wants to "portray women who are sexy without being naked", definitely a different vision from the ones before.

Now we just have to wait to see the result in the end of this year and who the photographer chose as his muses.

New Look . New Hippie

Uma reintrepretação da icónica fotografia do New Look de Christian Dior dos anos 50, onde voltou a mulher feminina e elegante depois dos tempos de guerra.
Adaptando o movimento urbano hippie e o folk, levando-os a um hippie chic, reintrepretamos o new look de Dior, mantendo o ar etéreo, romântico e delicado e a estrutura da fotografia.
E, o resultado final foi este.

A reinterpretation of Christian Dior's New Look iconic photography from the 50's, when there was a return to a feminine and elegant woman after the war.
Using the urban movement of hippie and folk, taking it to an hippie chic style, we adapted it to Dior's New Look, keeping its ethereal, romantic and delicate mood and the photography's structure.
And, the final result was this.

Tira-se a maquilhagem, cabeleireiro e mesmo styling, e o resultado é o que se pode ver nesta série de fotografias de Scott Trindle, onde modelos como Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmermann e Maryna Linchuk, entre outras, se despem de artifícios e expõem-se para a câmara da forma mais natural.
Sem horas de maquilhagem e styling que as podem tornar noutras pessoas, as que vemos nas revistas em editoriais fantásticos e super produzidos, sem retoques de photoshop, nestas fotografias podemos ver a sua verdadeira beleza e identidade.
Untouched é uma exposição refrescante que celebra o lançamento da Viva Model Management em Londres e que ainda vai dar muito que falar, são imagens que chamam a atenção pela carácter intimo e pela força que têm.


Take out make-up, hair-stylists and styling, and the result is shown by this series of portraits by Scott Trindle, where models like Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmermann and Maryna Linchuk, among others, present themselves to the camera on their most natural form.
Without hours of make-up and styling that can turn them into other people, the ones we see on magazines in amazing and super produced editorials, no retouching, in these photos we can see their true beauty and identity.
Untouched is a refreshing exhibition that marks the launch of Viva Model Management in London and that is still gone give people a lot  to talk about, with images that stand out by its intimate character and power.

Não há dúvida que a Kate Moss é um ícone do nosso tempo, com a sua beleza inquestionável, ela vai além de ser modelo é uma musa inspiradora para fotógrafos e não só.
Assim, não é de admirar que as suas fotografias agora passem das revistas a uma galeria. The Kate Moss Portfolio é a nova exposição de Danziger Projects, onde se podem encontrar várias imagens de Kate Moss ao longo da sua carreira. Nesta exposição podemos ver como Kate inspirou grandes fotógrafos como Mario Sorrenti, Herb Ritts, David Sims, Mario Testino, entre outros, a criarem alguns dos seus melhores trabalhos.
Deixo-vos com algumas das imagens que se encontram expostas e que deixam qualquer um sem dúvidas do grande talento de Kate Moss.

There´s no doubt that Kate Moss is an icon of our time, with her unquestionable beauty, she goes beyond of being a model she's an inspiring muse for photographers and more.
Therefore it's not a surprise that her photographs have gone from magazines to a gallery space. The Kate Moss Portfolio is the Danziger Projects' new exhibition, where can be found several images of Kate Moss throughout her career. In this exhibition we can see how Kate inspired great photographers like Mario Sorrenti, Herb Ritts, David Sims, among others, to create some of their best work.
I leave you with some photos that are exhibited and that leave no doubt of Kate Moss' great talent.

"Indepensense" - explore your senses

Vi este último trabalho do director artístico italiano Giuseppe Mastromatteo, uma série de retratos intitulada "Indepensense" e fiquei completamente encantada.
É um trabalho que explora os sentidos do ser humano duma forma surrealista, que nos pode fazer recordar Magritte ou Man Ray, ao mesmo tempo que nos mostra o que os avanços da fotografia digital permitem.
Os modelos encaixam no típico cânone de beleza, simétrico e harmonioso, mas são, por sua vez, desconstruídos.
Penso que pode representar como uma "crítica" à sociedade que tenta escapar ao que se passa de mal mas que no fundo não consegue deixar de o perceber, à sociedade que parece que leva sempre uma máscara posta para se enquadrar no meio em que vive..., ou seja, que se "esconde" dos seus próprios sentidos.
Sendo arte, cada um a pode ver e perceber de uma forma diferente, e é o que a torna interessante.


I saw  this last work of the Italian artistic director Giuseppe Mastromatteo, a portrait series called "Indepensense",  and was completely amazed.
It's a work that explores the human senses on a surrealistic form, that can take us to the works of Magritte or Man Ray, and at the same time shows us how far can go the advances of digital photography.
The models fit in the classic canons of beauty, symmetry  and harmony, but then suffer a deconstruction.
I believe that it can represent a "critic" to society, which tries to escape from what goes wrong in the world but, in the end, always perceives it,  a society that seems to be wearing a mask all the time, to fit in on their own world..., therefore, a society that "hides" from their own senses.
As art, each of us can see and comprehend it on a different way, and that's what makes it interesting.
