Chanel's Little Black Jacket

Além do "Little Black Dress", outra das icónicas criações da Chanel é o "Little Black Jacket", e é este último que está a ser agora imortalizado numa exposição online (e também exposição ao vivo em Tóquio), onde mais de 100 celebridades da moda, música, cinema como Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle e Dakota Fanning, Jane Birkin e Anna Wintour se deixaram fotografar a usar o clássico casaco preto da Chanel, cada um à sua maneira. Uns num estilo mais clássico, outros num estilo mais rocker ou até mais artístico.
Este projecto do multifacetado Karl Lagerfeld em colaboração com Carine Roitfeld vai também estar disponível em livro a partir de Abril, e depois de ver estas fotos até eu fiquei com vontade de o juntar à minha colecção.

Besides the "Little Black Dress", another of Chanel's most iconic creations is  the "Little Black Jacket", and this last is now being immortalized on a "e-exhibition" (and also on a live exhibition in Tokyo), where more than a 100 celebrities from fashion, cinema and music like Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Jane Birkin and Anna Wintour let themselves be photographed wearing the classic Chanel black jacket, each one wearing it their own unique way. Some in a more classic style, others in a rocker vibe or even in a more artistic way.
This project by the multi-task man himself, Mr Karl Lagerfeld  and styled by the one and only Carine Roitfeld was also compiled into a book that is coming on sale in April, and I have to say after seeing the photos even I am eager to add it to my collection.

The Kate Moss Portfolio

Não há dúvida que a Kate Moss é um ícone do nosso tempo, com a sua beleza inquestionável, ela vai além de ser modelo é uma musa inspiradora para fotógrafos e não só.
Assim, não é de admirar que as suas fotografias agora passem das revistas a uma galeria. The Kate Moss Portfolio é a nova exposição de Danziger Projects, onde se podem encontrar várias imagens de Kate Moss ao longo da sua carreira. Nesta exposição podemos ver como Kate inspirou grandes fotógrafos como Mario Sorrenti, Herb Ritts, David Sims, Mario Testino, entre outros, a criarem alguns dos seus melhores trabalhos.
Deixo-vos com algumas das imagens que se encontram expostas e que deixam qualquer um sem dúvidas do grande talento de Kate Moss.

There´s no doubt that Kate Moss is an icon of our time, with her unquestionable beauty, she goes beyond of being a model she's an inspiring muse for photographers and more.
Therefore it's not a surprise that her photographs have gone from magazines to a gallery space. The Kate Moss Portfolio is the Danziger Projects' new exhibition, where can be found several images of Kate Moss throughout her career. In this exhibition we can see how Kate inspired great photographers like Mario Sorrenti, Herb Ritts, David Sims, among others, to create some of their best work.

Herb Ritts . an unique vision

Se eu já queria ir a Berlim, aqui está mais uma razão para lá ir. A partir de 14 de Maio no Camera Work em Berlim haverá uma exposição com as fotografias do excelente fotógrafo, Herb Ritts, e onde mais de 50 outros fotógrafos darão o seu comentário relativamente à visão única dos seus trabalhos.

Este fotógrafo num curto espaço de tempo conquistou todos com os seus retratos e nus artísticos, a sua visão e sensibilidade influenciou gerações de fotógrafos e mesmo revistas como Vogue e Vanity Fair.

Os seus retratos de celebridades como Madonna, Dustin Hoffman, Richard Gere, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Jack Nicholson criaram ícones atemporais.
Mesmo os seus videoclips para Madonna, Michael Jackson e o mais memorável "Wicked Game"  de Chris Isaak, são mais uma prova do seu inquestionável talento.


If I already wanted to go to Berlin, here's another reason why I should definitly go. Starting May 14, on Camera Work in Berlin, there will be an exposition with the photographs of the great photographer, Herb Ritts, and where more than 50 photographers will give a insight into the unique vision of his works.

This photographer, within a short period of time, won everyone's hearts with his portraits and aesthetics nudes, his vision and sensitivity enabled him to influence generations of photographers and even magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair.

His portraits of celebrities like Madonna, Dustin Hoffman, Richard Gere, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Jack Nicholson created timeless icons.
Even his music videos for Madonna , Michael Jackson and the legendary video "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak are one more proof of in undeniable talent.

Black Swan at MOCA

O Museum of Contemporary Art of Los Angeles (MOCA) desde 4 de Março até 5 de Julho apresenta a sua primeira exposição de jovens designers americanos com uma apresentação de mais de 20 peças do desfile de Primavera e Outono 2010 e Outono 2008 da Rodarte e, também, os fatos de ballet originais usados por Natalie Portman no filme Black Swan.
Rodarte é conhecida pelo seu uso de tecidos elaborados e alterados que depois se tranformam numa escultural peça de ready to wear.
As inspirações de Kate e Laura Mulleavy, designers da marca, foram a ave California condor, paisagens locais, filmes de terror japoneses, Boris Karloff como Frankenstein e o trabalho de Gordon Matta Clark.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Los Angeles (MOCA), since March 4th until July 5th presents their first exposition of young American designers with a presentation of more than 20 pieces from Spring and Fall 2010 and Fall 2008 runway collections of Rodarte, and, also, the original ballet costumes  worn by Natalie Portman in the movie Black Swan.
Rodarte is known by their use of altered and elaborated textiles that are then transformed into a sculptural ready-to-wear.
Designers of the brand, Kate and Laura Mulleavy's inspirations were the california condor, local landscapes, japanese horror Boris Karloff as Frankenstein and the work of Gordon Matta Clark.
